As a detection device, the sensor is required in most instruments: a mobile phone with one hand is almost inseparable in life. Of course, in many industrial machinery, sensors also occupy a place, including air compressors that our industry is well-known, also need sensors.

So, what is the role of the sensor in the air compressor

The actual responsibility of the compressor during the work is to increase the pressure and increase the suction pressure to the discharge pressure. Compression ratio is a technical expression of pressure difference, which means the absolute pressure on the high pressure side divided by the absolute pressure on the low pressure side. The calculation of the compression ratio must use the absolute pressure value. In order to avoid negative values in the calculated compression ratio, absolute pressure, not gauge pressure, must be used when calculating the pressure ratio. The absolute pressure value can be used to make the calculated value of the compression ratio positive, which makes sense.

Let's take a look at the application of pressure sensors in industrial air compressors in detail.

The pressure in general industrial air compressors is as small as 2hp to 10,000hp. Air compressors are mainly used in pneumatic control, execution, injection equipment, pneumatic tools, air discharge operations and other applications. Common air compressors generally work at 125 psi (about 8.6 atmospheres), and the gas flow rate ranges from 1CFM to 15000CFM. When the air containing impurities or pollutants passes through the compressor, it will greatly reduce the working efficiency of the air compressor and reduce its practical life. For this reason, general manufacturers will install separation/filtration equipment to remove dirt, moisture and oil in the air. As the filtering equipment adsorbs more pollutants, the pressure drop of the filtered gas will become larger and larger. Therefore, it is necessary to use a pressure sensor to monitor the pressure drop of the gas. When the pressure drop of the gas reaches 10psi, the pressure sensor can trigger the alarm system in the circuit to inform the operator to clean or replace the filter equipment in time. Because the pressure drop of the gas is affected by many factors such as the use environment, the length of time the filter is used, and the amount of filtered air.

A pressure sensor with a large range can be used in industrial-grade air compressors, and can be connected to almost any microcontroller. The communication protocol is simple and there is no need to program the internal registers in the device. Gel protection and anti-magnetic stainless steel cap can protect the pressure chip. It can be widely used in smart phones, tablet computers, personal navigation devices, tire pressure gauges.
