As long as it is machinery and equipment, it is inevitable that there will be failures, and air compressors are no exception. So how to avoid these air compressor failures as much as possible? Then we have to analyze the source of the failure.

1. Natural damage caused by long-term operation of the air compressor

1) When the air compressor is running, the friction surface of the moving parts wears naturally, which changes the size, shape and quality of the parts, making the original normal gap larger, causing the performance of the air compressor to deteriorate and causing failure.
2) Some parts of the air compressor are mostly connected by bolts and screws. During operation, due to the vibration of the air compressor, they will naturally loosen, and some may even fall off completely, causing failure.
3) There are also some parts that use springs. After the springs are used frequently, their tensile force and elastic force will be reduced, and they will become brittle due to overheating or overcooling, which is easy to damage and cause failures.
4) In another case, some frequently operated parts are prone to mechanical fatigue. Chang Jianwei has cracks or peeling on the surface. Common fatigue parts of air compressors include bearings, gears, valve springs and so on.

The natural damage of the air compressor is unavoidable, but regular good maintenance can be used to slow down the natural damage of the internal parts of the air compressor and prolong the service life of the air compressor.

2. Malfunctions caused by improper use or improper maintenance of the air compressor

In the process of using the air compressor, the operation is not carried out in strict accordance with the operating procedures, or even illegal operation; improper maintenance or lack of maintenance; poor maintenance caused damage to parts and air compressor failures, the common ones are:

1) Before using the air compressor in winter, start the operation without preheating; after starting, increase the load without heating by itself; the water-cooled air compressor does not add cooling water before starting, and it is found that the temperature is too high after operation. The sudden addition of cooling water makes the temperature of the air compressor cool rapidly, resulting in severe wear, deformation, and even bursting of parts due to thermal expansion and contraction; after use and shutdown, the cooling water cannot be drained in time, resulting in frost cracking damage to the parts, etc. .

2) Failure to regularly check, add or replace lubricating oil, resulting in non-standard oil quantity and deterioration of oil; failure to timely oil filter, resulting in increased oil flow resistance, or even blockage of oil passages, deterioration of lubrication conditions, and wear of parts , In serious cases, accidents such as 'pulling the cylinder' and the piston stuck will occur.

3) If the air filter is not cleaned or replaced regularly, the filtering efficiency will decrease, the air flow resistance will increase, and the intake air volume will decrease, causing serious wear of the cylinder, piston and other parts, reducing the air compression efficiency, increasing power consumption, and compressing the air. The air quality is so bad that it is not even usable at all.

4) Failure to regularly check and maintain the air valves of each part of the air compressor, so that its performance deteriorates and cannot work normally, thereby reducing the reliability and economy of the air compressor and increasing the failure rate.

5) The safety valves are not regularly inspected and maintained, and their pressure regulation is too low or too high, causing a major accident hazard.

Air compressor maintenance personnel should strictly abide by the air compressor operating requirements, and are responsible for regular inspection and maintenance of the air compressor.

3. Analyze the phenomenon that the air compressor is prone to appear before the failure

   1) The air compressor is not easy to start, the speed fluctuates up and down during operation, suddenly vibrates, and suddenly stops

   2) The air compressor makes abnormal sounds during operation: beating sound, friction sound, air leakage sound.

   3) When the air compressor is running, the oil temperature and water temperature indications are too high, and the parts indicate that the temperature is too high.

   4) There are many oil and water droplets in the discharged compressed gas, the humidity is too high, the dew point is too high; there are oil leakage, water leakage, air leakage and so on.

   5) When the air compressor is running, there will be an odor of burning or boiling oil.

There are often signs of an air compressor before it fails. These five phenomena sometimes appear singly, sometimes together, so it is necessary for the air compressor maintenance personnel to stop the air compressor when they find this situation, and use more. It can be detected by a method, and the cause of the failure can be found out as soon as possible, so as to avoid the damage of the air compressor in the next step.
