Do You Know The Reason Why The Air Compressor Shuts Down When The Temperature Is Too High?

In industrial production, the most common problem encountered by air compressors is equipment shutdown caused by excessive temperature. This problem can be large or small. Here is a common cause of air compressor shutdown caused by high temperature.

The high-temperature shutdown usually has the following reasons:
(1) Poor environmental ventilation and heat dissipation. There are three main situations in which the surrounding environment of the air compressor affects heat dissipation: one is too close to a wall-like obstacle; the other is other heat sources near the air compressor, and the third is that the front door and side door of the air compressor is open during operation, and the fan cannot form strong airflow.
(2) The radiator is blocked. When the surrounding environment of the air compressor is dusty, the long-term operation will cause a layer of dust or sludge to adhere to the surface of the radiator, and the internal copper pipe is also easy to be blocked due to the accumulation of grease, which affects the heat dissipation effect.
(3) The oil filter is too dirty. This machine has 3 side-by-side oil filters. When they are too dirty, the resistance oil cannot enter the compressor at the normal flow rate, and the compressor will quickly heat up due to insufficient cooling and lubricating oil. When the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet oil exceeds 0.18MPa, the filter element needs to be replaced.
(4) The cooling oil level is too low. When the cold machine is checked, if the oil level is lower than the lower end of the inspection tube, it should be replenished immediately.
(5) Low oil mark or poor oil quality. The machine uses the manufacturer’s special compressor oil, which will return to viscosity when other low-grade or inferior oils are used. And the specific heat is not up to the standard and the temperature is too high.
(6) The fan tape is broken or loose. When the tape breaks, the air compressor will automatically stop when the temperature is too high after running for about 5 minutes. If the tape is too loose, it will slip, which will reduce the fan speed and affect heat dissipation. At this time, the tightness of the fan tape should be replaced or adjusted.
(7) The shutoff valve is malfunctioning. There is an oil cutoff valve between the oil filter and the compressor. When the oil cutoff valve cannot be opened, due to no oil lubrication and cooling, the temperature of the compressor rises rapidly after starting, and it will automatically stop after about 1min. Remove the temperature plug on the exhaust end of the compressor main unit | You will find that the plug is dry and oil-free, and blue smoke will flow out of the hole. Open the maintenance hole at the bottom of the air compressor, remove the oil shut-off valve, and gently move the valve stem with your fingers to see if it can be pushed forwards and backward and can be easily reset. If it is difficult to move or return, you need to further disassemble the oil shut-off valve. If there is grease on the valve stem or valve hole, it needs to be polished with fine sandpaper until it can slide easily; if the spring is broken or there is a foreign object stuck in the letter, it will also affect the movement of the valve stem. At this time, you need to replace the spring or clean the spring and spring seat.
(8) The filter element of the oil and gas separator is too dirty. When it is too dirty, the oil will affect the circulation due to excessive resistance, causing overheating and shutdown. This situation is judged by the pressure difference before and after loading. When the pressure difference at both ends is 3 times the initial pressure or the maximum pressure difference reaches a.1MPa, it should be cleaned or replaced.
(9) The thermostat bypass valve is in the open position. The thermostat bypass valve is in the open position when the machine is cold and gradually closes when the temperature rises. When it fails, it may always be in the open position, and the cooling oil flows directly back to the air compressor from here without passing through the radiator, so the temperature will slowly rise and stop. The maintenance method is similar to that of the shut-off valve.
